Hello Humankindness: Walmart helps fulfill a man's dream of owning a home

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Walmart is doing its part to help the rehabilitation of a home in north Bakersfield.

Walmart presented a check for $14,000  to Habitat for Humanity Golden Empire to assist with the renovation of the donated home. Habitat houses are sold to partner families at no profit and financed with affordable loans. They say families are selected based on their level of need, ability repay the loan and willingness to partner with the home building process.

Future Habitat homeowner Sherman Tatum says he is thankful Walmart is helping him reach his dream of owning a home.

"There's no words really to express how I really feel, but I just thank Walmart for coming in and joining in with Habitat for Humanity to make my dream come true," he said.
