BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - It's a day of action as United Way of Kern County celebrates volunteerism and advocacy.
It's celebrating the support in areas of education, financial stability and health.
This year's day of action, people were asked to support Kern's newest readers and help new parents take on the role of being their child's first teacher.
Volunteers were able to do this by bringing kids free books and fostering a love for reading.
If you know someone who has demonstrated kindness to others, we want to know about it.
