BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A ribbon cutting ceremony was held for the Kindness Academy Library on Brundage Lane. The Girl Scouts of Central Bakersfield opened the doors to the library Monday.
The library aims to give Girl Scouts a chance to build their courage, confidence and character through reading.
Organizers say the library is dedicated to the late Sheryl Graab, a former Girl Scout volunteer and coordinator.
Girl Scout Karina de los Santos came up with the idea for the library, impressing some in the girl scouts.
"Very ambitious for a 10-year-old. I'm extremely impressed with what she has done in here but it's not something that's not achievable. So other girls can do something that is very similar," Program Leadership manager Michelle Loyd said.
