Hello Humankindness: Over 600 students receive new shoes in Arvin

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - More than 600 students at Haven Drive Middle School in Arvin received a special gift.

The Arvin Assembly Church partnered with community leaders to hand out new, brand name shoes, socks and teddy bears to students at the Haven Drive gym on Thursday morning.

The Arvin Union School District raised funds to provide new socks, and the Arvin Lions Club donated funds for each student to receive a cinch bag containing the new shoes, socks and other items, the district said.

"We just want the kids and the families in Arvin to know that we care about them and love them very much." said Dr. Michelle McLean, superintendent of Arvin Union School District.
