BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - As Thanksgiving approaches, many families are preparing for a Thursday feast.
And a local foster agency is providing another dish to help spread the happiness.
In what started four years ago, Legacy Family Services has delivered pumpkin pies to foster families around Bakersfield during Thanksgiving week.
Today, about 60 foster kids will receive the seasonal dish so many crave during the holiday.
But the pies symbolize something more -- they provide another opportunity for the agency, along with parents, to let their children know someone is always thinking about them.
So, as families across the county celebrate the holiday with pies and other dishes, Legacy Family Services recognizes how crucial a role foster parents play not only locally, but nationally as well.
The pumpkin pie delivery is a tradition they plan to continue.
