Stinson's awards $95,000 in grants to local non-profits

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - In an act of Humankindness, Stinson's asked local non-profits to apply for a $1,000 grant and more than 200 responded.

The company awarded 95 of those grants at a breakfast Tuesday, with credit to spend on anything in the store's inventory.

That's $95,000 in grants.

They say this started as 70 grants for 70 years in business, but president and owner Ben Stinson says the response was amazing from something that's been near and dear to their hearts for years, giving back to the community.

"We have supported the community to the tune of around a million dollars for the last 10 years and we just decided to make it so that we formally created it for our 70th anniversary," Stinson said.
