Veterans set for Honor Flight taking off Wednesday

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The 28th Honor Flight Kern County is set to takeoff Wednesday.

The organization takes our nation's war heroes to Washington, D.C., to see the memorials built in their honor.

Honor Flight Kern County says due to the age of World War II veterans, this will be one of the final local flights for heroes from that generation.

Korean War veterans are also part of the flight.

You can help both send off and welcome home the 28th Honor Flight this week. The group leaves Wednesday morning, with a boarding party at Bill Thomas Terminal at Meadows Field set for 4:45 a.m.

Then, Friday, Oct. 27, you can welcome vets home at Meadows Field at 8:30 p.m.
