Jason Galvin - Sunrise Anchor

- Jason Galvin anchors 17 News at Sunrise with Maddie Janssen. He is an Emmy-award nominated reporter, and anchored a Edward R. Murrow Award-winning broadcast alongside Kristin Price, recognized for excellence in breaking news coverage.

Jason joined the 17 News team in October of 2014 as the weekend sports anchor, and co-anchor of Friday Football Xtra with Lina Washington. In January 2016, he made a permanent move to news and the Sunrise desk.

Jason was born and raised in Santa Clarita, Calif. A graduate of Valencia High School and College of the Canyons, Jason earned his BA, with honors, in 2013 from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University.

While at Arizona State, Jason anchored sports and reported for the school's award winning Cronkite NewsWatch, airing statewide daily. He was also a play-by-play voice for the Pac-12 Network's digital coverage of Arizona State Baseball and Women's Soccer, and he spent one season as the in-game host of Sun Devil's Women's Basketball.

While in college, Jason traveled the country in various announcing and broadcasting roles covering NASCAR. He served as a full-time announcer at Southern California's Irwindale Speedway for six seasons, was part of the announce crew at Phoenix International Raceway, and covered various NASCAR Pro Series West events for outlets including SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

In 2013, Jason covered the Milwaukee Brewers for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel during spring training in Arizona. While working for the Journal Sentinel, Jason penned a front page story for USA Today when Ryan Braun returned to the team following performance-enhancing drug use allegations.

Prior to attending Arizona State, Jason anchored news and sports for Cougar News, the College of the Canyons produced news program covering the Santa Clarita Valley. He also served as sports director at Santa Clarita's radio station, KHTS AM-1220, for over four years.
