BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - 17's Sunrise traditional, we're sharing our favorite family dishes with viewers just in time for the holiday season.
To start the week off, Sunrise Producer, Adrianne Manseau and Associate Producer, Shyntel Del Aguila share a delicious and easy French Toast Casserole.
1/2 cup of melted butter
12 slices Texas toast
1 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/3 cup chopped pecans, optional
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 eggs, beaten
1 1/2 cups milk
Mix dry ingredients: brown sugar, pecans, and cinnamon in a bowl and set aside.
Mix wet ingredients: beat eggs, then stir in milk and vanilla extract.
Pour the melted butter, (one stick), in the bottom of the pan and stack one layer of Texas Toast strips in the pan.
Layer half of the brown sugar mixture on top and then add another layer of toast.
Pour the wet contents on top of toast, then finish layering the brown sugar mixture.
Cover and refrigerate overnight.
Remove foil from the night before and place new foil on top.
Place pan in the oven at 350 degrees.
Bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil for the last 15 minutes.
Let cool, and serve!
