City to move forward with $200,000 bike and ped safety plan

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The streets of Bakersfield will soon be more bike and pedestrian friendly.

Bakersfield was recently awarded a $200,000 grant from Caltrans for a bicyclist and pedestrian safety plan. Last night, the Bakersfield City Council adopted a resolution to go forward with the plan.

The purpose of the grant is to reduce serious injuries and fatalities of bicyclists and pedestrians on Bakersfield's most vulnerable roadways.

The plan will involve identifying critical intersections and roads and designing improvements.
