8 arrested, 22 cited in NW Bakersfield DUI checkpoint

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Eight people were arrested during a DUI checkpoint operation in Northwest Bakersfield, according to the Bakersfield Police Department.

The checkpoint was held in the 1400 block of Calloway Drive from 7 p.m. Friday to 2 a.m. Saturday.

The BPD Traffic Section arrested five people for driving while drunk, one person for driving under the influence of drugs, one person for public intoxication, and one person for an outstanding warrant, police said. Police also cited 22 drivers for having no driver's license, or for driving on a suspended license.

Police ask anyone who suspects an impaired driver to call 911.
