Mother and daughter killed by suspected DUI driver remembered in Taft

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Funeral services were held this morning for a mother and daughter who were killed by a suspected drunk driver in Taft.

It was standing room only as people filled Westside Believers Church in Taft this morning to remember the lives of Realeen and Reagan Sorensen.

Hundreds gathered to remember the mother and daughter duo gone too soon.

Realeen and Reagan Sorensen were heading back home after getting their hair done and grabbing dinner July 20th when they were hit head on by suspected drunk driver 34-year-old Vincent Moroyoqui on Taft Highway.

"Reagan didn't want anyone to cry," Maddison Rubadeau, Reagan's best friend said. "This is so weird, but we did talk about funerals sometimes and me being the wilder one, we always thought I would go first and she said when I die, if you're doing my funeral, don't let anyone cry and I want Eminem there because that girl could do the entire "Rap God" rap, word-for-word. It was amazing."

The men closest to the pair wearing pineapple ties, Reagan's favorite fruit, to honor their sweet girls.

"I'd always call or text Reagan or Raeleen and they always supported and took care of me," Reagan's longtime boyfriend Jacob Lopez said. "I don't know what to do with my life anymore, but I'm going to put my pants on and get back to work at some point. She was everything to me and I'm going to miss everything about her."

The community of Taft showed love and support for the Sorensen family, gathering to share stories of the two women who impacted so many.

"The community of Taft is a very, very large family. Anything that happens to any member of the family impacts our entire community," Taft Mayor Dave Noerr said. "This community is trying to grapple with the loss of two wonderful people for no reason and it's going to be a tough go."

The family set up a memorial fund to honor the lives of Realeen and Reagan.

The money will be used to support causes they were passionate about.
