Trial date set for man charged in DUI crash that killed his girlfriend

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - An 18-year-old man accused of DUI and causing a deadly crash last summer appeared in court on Tuesday morning to set a trial date.

Richard Prosser has pleaded not guilty to charges of second-degree murder and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.

A judge set the trial date as May 5.

Police say that Prosser crashed his truck on Noriega Road, east of Allen Road on June 10, killing his girlfriend, 19-year-old Krystul Hazelwood, who was in the passenger seat. In a Probable Cause Statement, officers say that Prosser's blood alcohol content was over .13

Prosser is being held on $1.25 million bail.
