Former teacher's aide charged with sexually assaulting 15-year-old boy, takes plea deal

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A former teacher's aide at Sierra Middle School took a plea deal Wednesday for having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old boy.

Edward Gonzalez, 25, faced multiple felony sex charges, including lewd acts with a minor.  In exchange for a no contest plea on that charge, the others were dismissed.

Gonzalez will be back in court in January for sentencing.

On May 13, Gonzalez, of Bakersfield, was arrested on charges of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old boy.

BPD officers said Gonzalez met the boy at a party in Bakersfield the night before.

The boy went with Gonzalez to his home in the 10 block of Tyree Toliver Street, where Gonzalez sexually assaulted the boy, police said.

After the assault, the 15-year-old left the residence and the Bakersfield Police Department was immediately contacted. The boy was physically uninjured after the assault, police said.

Gonzalez was later located by investigators and determined to be a teacher's aide at Sierra Middle School.

He was arrested and booked into the Kern County Jail on numerous charges including sexual assault, false imprisonment and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

It was determined the 15-year-old was not a student of the Bakersfield City School District.
