BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A huge honor at the state capitol in Sacramento Wednesday for a local non-profit, as Stay Focused Ministries is one of 70 recipients of non-profit of the year award.
"Hi, this is Manuel Carrizalez, I'm here with Assemblywoman Shannon Grove and we just received nonprofit California award from them and we're so excited to be here and I can't really express what I'm feeling, but I'm overwhelmed, said Carrizalez.
"I am so honored to be able to have Manuel Carrizalez and his wife Liz here for Stay Focused Ministries to be the award recipient for the nonprofit of the year for the 34th assembly district, they so deserve it and I love what they do in our community to invest in our youth, said Grove.
The 70 recipients were selected out of more than 200,000 California non-profits.
Stay Focused Ministries helps local at-risk children and families, providing comfort, support and guidance to community members in crisis.
