1 dead, 1 hospitalized after crash involving semi on Pond and Driver roads

DELANO, Calif. - One man is dead, another is hospitalized following a deadly crash between a semi and a vehicle in Delano, according to California Highway Patrol. 
 
The crash happened Wednesday just after 6:30 a.m. on Pond and Driver Roads, CHP reported. 
 
CHP says, the semi was heading South when the driver of the vehicle was stopped at the stop sign. That's when the vehicle pulled out in front of the semi and was struck. 
 
The 35-year-old semi driver from McFarland suffered minor injuries and he was taken to Delano Regional, according to CHP. 
 
The 20 year old driver and passenger are both from Bakersfield. 
 
CHP says they do not believe drugs or alcohol were involved. 
 
This is the 46th fatal crash reported this year for Bakersfield CHP. According to CHP, there were 60 fatal crashes last year.
