Suspects arrested; 14-year-old boy hospitalized following shooting in South Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - UPDATE: (Nov. 29)  A weapon was recovered and three people are in custody after a shooting Tuesday night, according to Kern County Sheriff's Office. 

After the shooting occurred, deputies got involved in a pursuit in the area with a dark-colored Mercedes, according to KCSO. The pursuit ended on Bryant Street, east of Sparks Street in Rexland Acres. The suspects fled on foot but were arrested.

Sixteen shell casings were recovered at the scene. KCSO found an AR-15 that was thrown out of the suspect vehicle during the pursuit.

The three men were arrested for attempted murder, gang charges, assault with a deadly weapon and conspiracy.

A 14-year-old boy was hospitalized following a shooting in South Bakersfield Tuesday night.

KCSO deputies responded to a shooting in the 4500 block of Vern Street just at around 6:30 p.m.

KCSO said the 14-year-old suffered a non-life threatening gunshot wound in the leg.

A KCSO official said a person got out of a car, started firing and struck the 14-year-old. Two other homes were hit during the shooting.

The shooting remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the Kern County Sheriff's Office at 861-3110.
