A Fresno Superior Court judge has tossed out a wrongful death lawsuit filed by the family of a paramedic who died in an ambulance helicopter crash in Kern County in 2015.
The Fresno Bee reports the judge ruled that the case, filed by the family of Kyle Juarez, must go through the state's workers compensation death benefits program because the death happened while the Juarez was working.
The family's lawsuit claimed the crash occurred because of lack of maintenance to the helicopter that crashed during a flight from Porterville to Bakersfield in December 2015.
Three others died in the crash.
