Arvin Police notified of threat against Arvin High School

ARVIN, Calif. - Early this morning at approximately 6:12 a.m., officers of the Arvin Police Department were notified of a threat of violence towards Arvin High School. Police say the threat, which was posted on Snapchat; was reported by a concerned student. The threat consisted of a male teen displaying a rife and threatening to harm students at the school. 

Officers were able to identify the 15-year-old male suspect and conduct surveillance on his home. At approximately 7:10 a.m., Arvin police observed a vehicle leaving the home with a male juvenile matching the description of the suspect. The vehicle was stopped and the juvenile suspect was taken into custody without incident.

A search was later conducted at the suspects residence at which time officers located the rifle shown in the Snapchat post. The rifle was determined to be a pellet gun and seized as evidence.

The suspect was booked into Kern County Juvenile Hall for making a terrorist threats towards Arvin High School.
