Bakersfield College hosting Valley fever awareness presentation

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Bakersfield College is hosting a presentation to raise awareness of the dangers of Valley fever.

Kern Public Health Services says in 2016 Valley fever killed six people in Kern County and infected nearly 2,000 others.

Bakersfield lawmakers have requested a $3 million grant to fund efforts at Kern Medical to battle the disease.

On March 23, Bakersfield College is partnering with Valley Fever Awareness and Resources to discuss the disease.

The presentation starts at 6 p.m. in the film room.
