Bakersfield homeless offered health screenings, hair cuts

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Wednesday is National Health Care for the Homeless Day and Clinica Sierra Vista offered health screenings, hair cuts, and refreshments for homeless residents at its Old Town Kern Health Center on Baker Street.

Clinica Sierra Vista has provided services to the homeless for 25 years, while working with the Kern County Homeless Collaborative

"We're here to identify them as homeless, get them connected to the doctor, help them with transportation, and any other way we can to help them improve their quality of life," Clinica Sierra Vista program coordinator Margarita Rosson said.

A number of agencies partnered with Clinica Sierra Vista today, including Bakersfield police, Kern Health Systems, Greater Bakersfield Legal Assistance, and Flood Ministries, to provide information and services to the homeless.
