Bakersfield police to set up DUI checkpoint Friday night

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Bakersfield police will conduct a DUI and driver's license checkpoint at an undisclosed location on Friday Aug. 4.

Officers will be set up checking for signs of alcohol or drug impairment and to make sure drivers have the proper licensing between 6 p.m. and 2 a.m. Saturday.

As a reminder, drivers caught driving impaired can face jail time and fines that can exceed $10,000.

The department says these DUI checkpoints are a proven tool in reducing the number of people killed and injured in alcohol or drug related crashes.
