Bakersfield's Smokin' Armadillos are back

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - They took some time off, but now, the Smokin' Armadillos are back to showcase some local country music.

The six-man band started after high school. They signed a record deal in Nashville and sold over 150,000 copies of their EP.

A few years later they decided to take a break and live life with their families, and now the group says they just want to play again and enjoy making music.

The band's new single "Other California" is set to hit the radio on Sept. 25. They say the project is completely self-funded and are allowing fans to engage by contributing and donating money to the music.

"We are so fan driven. have always been fan driven, and now fans have an opportunity to help drive what we do and contribute and get some great things ordered and contribute to the project," lead guitarist Scott Meeks said.

You can help out the Smokin' Armadillos by donating to the band's Indiegogo page.
