Boil water notice in effect for areas surrounding Outlets at Tejon

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Cal Water has issued a precautionary boil water notice for areas east of Interstate 5, near the Outlets at Tejon in Arvin.

The notice has prompted Kern County Department of Public Health to shut down restaurants in the area. Cal Water says the boil water notice is also in place for the Outlets at Tejon.

A drop in water pressure in the system prompted the precautionary boil notice.

"When the pressure is impacted like that, it does allow for possible contaminants to enter the drinking water," Kern County Department of Public Health spokesperson Michelle Corson said.

Cal Water is currently testing water in the area. It remains unclear when the boil water notice will be lifted by Cal Water.
