Man involved in officer-involved shooting found with prop gun

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A 22-year-old was arrested Thursday night after an officer-involved shooting with Bakersfield police officers.

It started just after 10:30 p.m. in the 2500 block of Bishop Drive when officers responded to a domestic dispute, BPD said.

A foot pursuit began after an officer arrived on scene. At some point during the chase, the officer fired his gun, police said.

Jesus Bello, 22, was found on the top of a nearby building. He was not hit by gunfire.

Bellow was found with a blank gun, similar to something you would see in theatrics, police said.

"It looks and functions identical to a normal firearm with casings identical to a normal style casing that fits into a semi-automatic firearm, however it does not fire projectiles," Bakersfield Police Department spokesman Sgt. Ryan Kroeker said.

There were several shell casings on the ground found from the blank gun, police said.

Bello was taken to the police department.
