BPD: Woman in possible kidnapping located

BAKERSFIIELD, Calif. - UPDATE: Bakersfield police say Mikaela Atuatasi has been located 

Police are looking for a woman officers say may have been kidnapped Monday night in northwest Bakersfield.  

Officers responded around 11:30 Monday night to the 9600 block of Meacham Road regarding a call of shots heard and a vehicle collision.  

When officers arrived, a vehicle had collided with a fence.  Their investigation revealed a male adult driver and his adult female passenger had been heading eastbound on Meacham Road when the suspect drove alongside their vehicle in the suspect vehicle and fired at least one shot at the victims.

The adult male driver lost control of his vehicle colliding with the fence. The suspect identified as Cory Thompson, 34,  stopped his vehicle near the collision scene and demanded the female victim get into his vehicle with him. The victim eventually complied and was last seen being driven away by the adult male suspect northbound on Abbott Drive.  Thompson has since been detained by Bakersfield police.  

The adult male victim sustained minor injuries during the offense. The female victim, identified as Mikaela Atuatasi, 26, of Bakersfield has not been located and It is unknown if she was injured or in need of medical assistance.
