BPD: Spike in business burglaries happening around town

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Bakersfield police say they're seeing a spike in business burglaries here in town.

They say often burglars are striking once the business is closed.

In most cases, the burglars are after safes and cash registers.

The Bakersfield Police Department is recommending that all business owners who use a safe, make sure it's strongly secured to the ground and that cash deposits are made on a daily basis.

They also recommend that all money be removed from cash registers on a daily basis, and that business owners leave the cash drawer open to discourage thieves from damaging the registers when looking for money.

Anyone with information on these burglaries is asked to call The Bakersfield Police Department at 327-7111.
