California Highway Patrol: Traffic fatalities up from last year

California Highway Patrol told 17 News they have counted 65 traffic deaths this year in Kern County. 

So far, 2017 has seen five more people killed than all of 2016, with the rest of December still left on the calendar. 

The latest numbers come from Monday's fatal accident on Highway 223 that claimed the life of Arvin High School teacher, Scott Demunnik.
