Caltrans announces local daytime closures

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Department of Transportation (Caltrans) announces a daytime closure along State Route 99 for Thursday in Bakersfield, for litter and graffiti clean-up as part of Caltrans’ Annual Litter Day.

In 2016, Caltrans state-wide collected enough litter, trash, and debris from freeways to fill almost 9,000 garbage trucks. Parked end-to-end, those trucks would stretch almost 50 miles.

The following closures will be in effect, weather permitting:

The #4 (right) lane on Southbound State Route 99 will be closed from Belle Terrace to Planz Road from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The on-ramp from Eastbound Panama Lane to Northbound State Route 99 will be closed from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The on-ramp from Eastbound White Lane to Northbound State Route 99 will be closed from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Closures may continue for longer periods of time if necessary, due to delays caused by weather or uncontrollable events that may occur during construction procedures.

Caltrans would like to thank residents and commuters for their patience during these Litter Day activities and remember to please Slow for the Cone Zone.”
