CSUB set to take on Colorado State

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Cal State Bakersfield men's basketball team is just hours away from its National Invitation Tournament matchup with Colorado State.

Last Tuesday, the Roadrunners beat the Cal Golden Bears 73-66 in the opening round of the NIT to earn the program's first division one postseason victory.

That win came just days after a heartbreaking end of the programs bid for its second NCAA Tournament appearance.

After an epic four overtime win in the conference semi-final, the Runners blew a halftime lead to rival New Mexico State in the WAC Championship, but CSUB quickly turned its attention towards the NIT.

On Sunday, CSUB students, community members and supporters gathered in front of the Icardo Center to send off the team to the next leg of their post-season journey. Coach Rod Barnes says after the big win last week, CSUB won't surprise Colorado State.

The Runners take on the Colorado State Rams tonight at 8:15 p.m. and can be seen live on ESPN 2.

17 Sports Director Nick James will be on site and will have the latest from Fort Collins on 17 News at 11. We will also have full coverage of the game on our KGET Facebook and Twitter.
