FBI report shows Bakersfield crime rate declines for seventh straight year

State crime rate at historically low levels

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Crime is on the decline in the city of Bakersfield according to a newly released report by the FBI.

The bureau released its annual Uniform Crime Report Thursday.

Overall, crime is down 8 percent in the city for the seventh straight year. That includes drops in property crime and violent crime.

California as a state continues to see crime at historically low levels violent crime is down 42 percent since 1985. 

All this according to an analysis of the report by the Center on Juvenile and criminal justice.
