KCFD battles brush fire in Kern River Canyon

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Kern County Fire Department is currently battling a brush fire in Bodfish.

KCFD said the fire started around 2:20 p.m. just off of Highway 178 on Borel Road, which is near Kern Canyon Road.
 
According to the U.S. Forest Service, the fire has grown to 1,000 acres.
 
The containment is 10 percent and are evacuating in North and South Black Gulch. 
 
KCFD said no one is injured and at this time no structures are threatened. 
 
According to CHP, you can still travel between Bakersfield and Lake Isabella using the lower canyon and Old Kern Canyon Road.
