Local kids get the opportunity to play baseball

The Sheriff's Activities League sponsors a team and its players are grateful

Bakersfield, Calif. - Another day of baseball at Sam Lynn Ballpark today. But for one team, games like today's are an opportunity its players could not afford without the help of the Sheriff's Activities League.

The Sheriff's Activities League, or SAL, is constantly providing opportunities for kids to have fun while teaching them life skills. This time, the opportunity comes in the form of baseball.

SAL's 2017 baseball team, the A's, is the first one in years - and the kids are having a blast.

To get involved with SAL, contact leaders at their Facebook page, Bakersfield SAL.

A barbecue to benefit Sheriff's Activities League takes place this Wednesday (4/5) outside our KGET Studios from 11 am until 2.

$10 gets you a tri tip sandwich, chips and a drink.
