Man barricaded inside east Bakersfield home prompts SWAT call out

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A man is in custody following a standoff with sheriff's deputies in east Bakersfield. 

KCSO said it started with a shooting around 2:30 a.m. Saturday. A woman was wounded in the back during a domestic argument. 
     
Deputies located the suspected shooter, Marco Gutierrez, around 5:30 p.m. Gutierrez barricaded himself in a home on Burnett Drive near Virginia Avenue County Park. 
     
The Sheriff's Department called out its SWAT team around 7:15 p.m.. The area was evacuated as deputies worked to get Gutierrez into custody. 
     
A couple hours later with the assistance of a K-9, Gutierrez was apprehended. KCSO said he was taken to a local hospital to be treated for injuries he sustained. 

KCSO said the woman who was shot was seriously wounded and possibly paralyzed but is stable. 
     
Sheriff's officials say after Gutierrez is treated, he will be booked on charges of attempted murder, domestic violence and weapons violations.
