Police make arrest in connection with shooting

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - UPDATE (Dec. 12): The Kern County Coroner's Office identified the man killed in Saturday's shooting at Heritage Park as 27-year-old Christopher Manuel Cruz Guadron of Bakersfield.

UPDATE (Dec. 11): Bakersfield police arrested 19-year-old Guillermo Soto in connection with Saturday's shooting at Heritage Park. Soto was arrested on suspicion murder, attempted murder along with gang and weapons violations.

Soto is due to appear in court Tuesday, Dec. 12.

A man is dead and a girl was injured following a shooting at Heritage Park Saturday morning.

Bakersfield police were called to the park at 2320 Mt. Vernon Avenue at around 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 9 for reports of a shooting.

While responding to the call, Kern Medical told police two people were being treated for gunshot wounds. Police determined the two were victims from that shooting.

One man, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead, while a 17 year old girl was treated for minor wounds.

Police are looking for two suspects in the shooting. They are looking for a Hispanic man described as wearing a dark long-sleeved shirt and dark pants. The other suspect is a Hispanic woman wearing a dark shirt and dark shorts.
