Man involved in deadly 2015 fight sentenced to 18 years in prison

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A man has been sentenced to more than 15 years in prison after a jury found him guilty of second-degree murder.

Guadalupe Ruiz was sentenced to 18 years in prison Thursday in connection with a deadly fight in November 2015.

According to court records, deputies responded to a fight in the 1500 block of South Union Avenue in South Bakersfield. They found 55-year-old Abel Prendiz, who later died in the hospital.

Kern County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested Ruiz and Quinton James in connection with the deadly fight. 

James is scheduled for his sentencing on Nov. 2.
