Man sustains major injuries after shooting in McFarland

MCFARLAND, Calif. - A man is in the hospital after sustaining major injuries in a shooting in McFarland.

McFarland police said around 11:30 p.m. yesterday, an officer on routine patrol was flagged down by a resident in the area of East Sherwood Avenue and San Pedro Street for a man down in the roadway. 

The officer located the man, who was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, laying in the roadway of East Sherwood Avenue near the east alleyway of San Pedro Street. 

After the shooting, the suspect ran northbound in the east alley of the 100 block of San Pedro Street, according to officers.

They say they located several shell casings and where the shooting occurred.

The 25-year-old victim was transported by ambulance to Kern Medical.

His name is not being released at this time, according to police.

Officers said the suspect is described as a Hispanic man, about 5 feet 8 inches tall, thin build and was wearing dark clothing.
