Man with 'life threatening injuries' in Lamont shooting

LAMONT, Calif. - A man is said to have life threatening injuries from a shooting in Lamont Wednesday night.

It happened just before 10:30 p.m. at a home in the 10900 block of Santa Ana Street, the Kern County Sheriff's Office said.

 

Sheriff's deputies went to the home for a report of people fighting in front of a home an hour before the shooting around  9:15 p.m. 

Deputies were also told the people involved in the fight were possibly intoxicated.

When deputies arrived, they determined two people had gotten into an argument and possibly fought, but one of the individuals had left.

About an hour later, deputies were called back to the same location for a report of a man who was shot. 

Deputies found the man lying on the sidewalk, shot several times.

He was taken to Kern Medical where he was listed in critical condition.

Due to the victim's extent of injuries, homicide detectives responded and assumed the investigation.

No suspects have been identified, the sheriff's office said.
