Photographer creates, sells out calendar featuring local veterans

More calendars will be printed photographer says

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A Bakersfield photographer, from a family with deep military roots, is selling calendars featuring our local veterans.

Petrina Harris was at the monthly Honor Flight Kern County breakfast Thursday morning with calendars she had been working on since early last year.

Each veteran in the 18-month calendar has a brief history of their life included.

Harris printed about 130 calendars, and by this morning, she was sold out.

"This has been such an amazing project. It was really important for me to give back to our local veterans and go to these breakfasts," Harris said.

"These guys are amazing. They're so thankful for me doing this calendar, and I want to thank them for their service but they want to thank me for the calendar."

Harris said she is printing more calendars.

Harris has donated about $4,300 dollars to Honor Flight Kern County. That's enough money to send three veterans to Washington D.C. to see the memorials built in their honor.
