Police investigate homicide in California City

CALIFORNIA CITY, Calif. - California City police are investigating a homicide that occurred last night.

Officers responded late last night to the 21000 block of Kenniston Street, near California City Boulevard, for a reported shooting.

Police said officers arrived and found a man unconscious with an apparent gunshot wound in his abdomen.

California City police chief Eric Hurtado said there was an argument at a home and at least one shot was fired.

The 42-year-old victim was transported to a local hospital where he later died.

A possible suspect fled in a dark Honda, according to witnesses in the area.

The vehicle matching the description was located at Fernwood Avenue and was seized as evidence.

California City police have not released any other information on the shooter.
