Police report reveals more in East Bakersfield motel murder

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - New documents reveal details about a murder at an East Bakersfield motel.

Bakersfield police officers responded to the Town and Country Motel last month where investigators found a woman's body inside one of the rooms.

Police reports state Eldrick Richmond told detectives he invited the woman to his room. Richmond said he decided he was going to take a shower before checkout time.

The report states when he exited the restroom, he found the woman going through his possessions.

According to the report, Richmond asked her to stop, but she refused.
Richmond reportedly told police he then grabbed her by her throat before punching her twice in the face.

The report states she fell to the ground and then Richmond took his shower.

The woman's name has not been released.

Richmond pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder last month.

His bail is set at $1 million. Richmond is due back in court Jan. 10.
