Sentencing set for man accused in deadly 2014 Oildale shooting

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Sentencing is set for a man who took a plea deal last month in a deadly shooting in Oildale.

Paul Ray Parra, Jr. pleaded no contest to voluntary manslaughter Feb. 23. In exchange, his first-degree murder charge was dismissed.

Parra shot and killed Keith Hurst in August of 2014, then barricaded himself in a home on Woodrow Avenue before he surrendered.

Sentencing is scheduled for April 10.
