ShotSpotter technology to be discussed at city meeting Thursday

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Bakersfield city leaders will discuss Thursday the ShotSpotter technology that alerted Fresno officers to Tuesday's shooting spree that left three people dead.

When shots are fired, the ShotSpotter activates a detection system in patrol vehicles which pinpoints where the sound is coming from.

The Safe Neighborhoods and Community Relations Committee will discuss about the technology at their 9 a.m. meeting Thursday.

BPD Chief Lyle Martin is also scheduled to talk about gang enforcement and provide an update on the safe streets partnership.
