A woman gave birth to a baby boy on the side of Interstate 5, just north of Highway 43 Tuesday morning.
The California Highway Patrol says the woman's water broke at 2:00 a.m. while her and her husband were in San Jose. The couple then got into their car and started driving to the Los Angeles hospital to see their preferred doctor.
Just after 7:50 a.m., a CHP officer pulled their car over for speeding. When the officer got out of the car, he noticed that the woman was in the backseat. The husband explained their situation to the officer.
The CHP officer immediately called Hall Ambulance and they delivered the baby on the side of the road at 8:27 a.m.
The mother was transported to Mercy Southwest.
