BAKERSFIELD, CA -- The Kern County District Attorney's office has filed a felony complaint against Amy Christine Powers, alleging three felony counts of grand theft stemming from the thefts of funds from the Bakersfield Police Benefit Association.

Powers served as the Treasurer of the Benefit Association for many years and is charged with embezzling about $45,000 from the Association between January 2008 and early 2013. During that time, Powers also worked for the Bakersfield Police Department, most recently as a Senior Police Records Clerk.
