UPDATE: I-15 Closure in both directions near Nevada state line

The California Highway Patrol has now shutdown both northbound lanes as well as the southbound lanes of I-15 just east of the Nevada-California border due to a chemical spill. The CHP says the southbound lanes will be a long term closure, but the northbound lanes will have one lane open soon. There is no current estimate of how long the road out of Las vegas will be closed.
UPDATE: The California Highway Patrol has reported that they have also closed the northbound lanes of Interstate 15 just east of the Nevada state line.  The Northbound closure is temporary and one lane will be open soon.

The southbound I-15 remains closed after a tanker truck carrying 4,100 gallons of ferric chloride acid overturned in the southbound lanes by Yates Wells Rd and is leaking onto the highway.

A CHP news alert says the closure will last for at least several hours and there is no alternate route into Las Vegas.
