Man fatally shot in east Bakersfield

Deputies say the victim was shot several times Thursday morning in the 2500 block of North Inyo Street. He died at Kern Medical Center.
The following is a news release from the Kern County Sheriff's Department: 

Deputies were dispatched at 0012 hours to the 2500 Block of North Inyo Street in Bakersfield. Upon arrival they located a male subject 31 years old suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to KMC were he expired from his injuries.

Detectives responded to the scene and learned that a argument was heard in the street just prior to hearing several gunshots and then the sounds of a unknown vehicle fleeing the area at a high rate of speed. Shortly after that a resident heard a subject at his front door and found the victim suffering multiple gunshot wounds and called 911.
The coroner's office has identified the victim as 31-year-old Richard Martinez Tovar Jr. of Bakersfield.
