Workers will return to Edwards Air Force Base

About 900 workers furloughed due to the government shutdown will return to duty Tuesday.
About nine-hundred workers furloughed due to the government shutdown at Edwards Air force Base will return to duty Tuesday.

The workers had been off the job at the base since Tuesday, October 2.

Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel said Pentagon and Department of Justice Attorneys performed a review over the weekend.

They concluded that the law allows the Department of Defense to eliminate furloughs for employees whose responsibilities contribute to the morale, well-being, capabilities and readiness of service members.

The house passed a bill providing back pay to federal workers who were furloughed but it's unclear when the senate might vote on the bill.
