Candlelight vigil for crash victims

Family and friends gathered Monday night at the corner of Rosedale Highway and Verdugo Lane to remember Pavinder Claire, 22, and Jackie Kvasnicka, 27, and to pray for Jessica McGee, 20.
BAKERSFIELD, CA- A candlelight vigil was held Monday night for three young women involved in a suspected DUI crash. Family and friends gathered at the corner of Rosedale Highway and Verdugo Lane to remember Pavinder Claire, 22, and Jackie Kvasnicka, 27, and to pray for Jessica McGee, 20.

Mcgee's uncle said the three were co-workers at Kern Schools Federal Credit Union and were headed home following a Bakersfield Blaze game when they were rear-ended by Dontrell Collins, 29 early Saturday morning.

The impact caused the women's car to burst into flames.

Claire and Kvasnicka died at the scene.

McGee was pulled from the wreckage by good samaritans, but suffered major burns.

Her uncle said she underwent surgery Monday, but has a long recovery ahead.

"You changed my life even though my niece is still here. You changed two other family's lives and actually a whole bunch of other lives because they had friends, they had cousins, you know, they had acquaintances," said Fred Jones, McGee's uncle.

Collins was booked on felony drunken driving and vehicular manslaughter charges. He is being held on over a 335-thousand dollar bail.

Collins is due in court Wednesday.

Court documents show Collins has had several run-ins with the law including disorderly conduct while being intoxicated in March and May of this year.
