County firefighters contain grass fire on Highway 155

The fire was about two acres and moving slowly firefighters said Tuesday morning.
A grass fire is under control Tuesday morning near Wofford Heights.

The Kern County Fire Department said the so-called "Evans Fire" broke Monday around 9 p.m off Highway 155, just east of the passing lanes and about 1/2 mile west of Calgary Drive.

Fire officials said the fire grew to about two acres and was moving slowly. They said they were able to control the fire overnight.

The eastbound lane of Highway 155 was closed during the fire, but has sinced reopened.         

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
